99

This week I did a basic facts test, I finished with 39 seconds to go. We had 6:30 to do it and I finished at 5:51 and then came marking... I ended up getting one wrong and got the the score of 99. I got multiplication question 7 times 7 wrong I did 7 times 7 equals 42 but it actually equals 49. I was thinking of 6 times 7. At lest I got a new high score.

Reading

Today we got a new score on reading, we managed to read for 23 min without anyone talking or looking around. Right now I’m reading Harry Potter.

Maths

This week for maths my LPG was solve division problems using a range of  strategies. So Lila and I went to page 126 in one of  Mr B’s maths bocks and work out the division problems.

Ocean

This morning we started learning about oceans.
I found out that there are only 64 adult Maui’s dolphins are left.
Later on I want to find out why Maui’s dolphins are going extinct and how I can help.

Today is Kids Can Crazzy day. I am a Jini and LILA is a Bunny. We have this to fund raze for children who don't get as much as us.

Choices

 My LPG for reading this week is " I can identify and talk about writers' purpose and on the ways they use language and ideas to suit their purpose." The story we read was called choice it's about a girl who make very bad choices when her friends where about to shape lift she backed down and made the right choice. We had to do a Frezz Frame.

Maths

This week for maths my LPG is " Solve Division Problems using a range of strategies." My strategy is drawing groups.

Henderson Island Word Search

This my Henderson Lsland Word Search. Herderson Island is one of the most polluted places on earth. My LPG is "I can find misspelt words and correct them."

3D Shapes

This week for maths my LPG was" Sort 2 and 3 dimensional shapes, considering the presence or absence of features and justifying the decision made- properties of squares and rectangles, angle measures" I first did the net of a cube and measured it to fit perfectly after that I drew some paterns. Then I got some sticky tap and glue, and created my cube.

This week for writing we had to write about a photo that we had labeled with  descriptive sentences and similes. Her is my writing.

This is my shape art we had to draw three shapes I did a three sided triangle an a four sided dimond and a eight sided octagon. Here is my Art.

Algorithms

For maths this week I learnt how to do Algorithms. My LPG is number 14 " Solve Addition Problems using a range of Strategies. " My next step would be to " Solve Subtraction Problems using a range of Strategies. " A  Algorithm is where you get to numbers with the same amount of digits. Here is an example.

My LPG for spelling this week is I can use spelling rules, root words, prefixes and suffixes to try and spell words, and use a dictionary for checking. Here are my spelling words.

For writing this week my LPG was I can reread my writing many times to make sure it makes sense. We did creative. Writing creative writing is where you get a picture with a sentence that you start off with. My picture was of a little boy in a cardboard jetpack. The starter sentence was: I was told dreams were free so I thought to myself... Her is what I wrote its gust a short one.

For art this week we did a winter wonderland. This art is ment to look like a sketch so there was no intence detail. I did mittens a pile of snow and a snow flake. I really like this art.

This week for writing my LPG was number 12 I can proofread my work for correct spelling and punctuation. I did a winter poem using a aagactive and a noun. Here is my poem.

  

Fractions

This week my LPG in maths was number 10 Identify Fractions. We learned that the top digit is called the numerator and the bottom digit is called the denominator. In fractions you work out the bottom digit first and then the top digit. Here is my work.

Winter Sports

On the 8-6-17 we had winter sports and I was doing hockey. I had never played hockey and I was happy I tried it, hockey may be a violent sport but I love it. I think winter sports is a good thing to have I loved just going out there and having fun it was great.

This is my Kouro art I did it with my partner Eunice Kim.  For this art you need pastels, white and you  can chose two other colours you also need a rubber, art peancil and dye. You do two Kouros one big one small. Mr B thought Matai and Totara how to do it.

For writing this week we did persuasive writing. Here  is my argument on why I disagree that HPS should go back to single sell classrooms.


Should HPS go Back to a Single Sell Classroom

I disagree because a single sell classroom has less kids, and that means it's harder to make good friends. Friendship is a crucial part of life, having two teachers means they will be good partners because they are good friends.

I also disagree because if one teacher is busy you always now there is another one you can go to. With one teacher you have to wait in line.

If there is two teachers one can work with a higher level of kids and the other one can work with the lower level of kids.

Plus everyone gets a fair share. And that is why I strongly believe that a combined classroom is a better learning environment.

This is my story map of the book I read for reading it's called the Penny Walk. Penny Walk is a game that Hazel made up Hazel is the brave one for most of the story but at the end she is the scardy-cat. Heads means right and tails means left. You have to of read the story to get what I mean.

Lately pod 5 have been working on persuasive writing. I am working on a persuasive writing on why we should not go back to single cell classrooms, where not actually going to. Here  is what I have started.

Mr B has taught us a new very cool game it's called STRIKE! Every body knows how to play tempin balling right well it's like that. What you need is three normal dice write down these numbers
           1                    After you have done that you roll all the dice and with the numbers you have,
        2    3                 make an equations  with the number, and the answer has to be ether 1 2  3 4 5 6 7
      4   5   6                8  9 10. Let's say your  numbers are 2 5 1 I would make my equation 2x5= 10
   7   8    9  10            - 1 = 9 so I would cross out number 9. After ten rolls you might have a strike if you don't have a strike you get a bounis. This game helps you to create equations

Story with every sentence starts with REMEMBER.

For a while are topic in writing is legends we did a story about Lake Ora and our goal was to make every sentence start with the word REMEMBER.

Do you remember the legend of Lake Ora. Shore you do.

Remember the black figure of the Taniwha under the light of the full moon. Remember when the brave warrior from the Pohe tribe who wanted to show everyone he was the best.

Remember how after the Taniwha came the Chief's beautiful daughter was the only one who lived by the lake. Remember on the full moon of the next year, on the same day, when everyone was woken by the screams for help coming from the chief's daughter who was  being dragged away by  the Taniwha.
Remember how the warrior had had enough and he grabbed his biggest sher he could find. Remember when the warrior dove into the misty blue water.

Remember how he threw his sher like he was winning the Javelin cup. Remember when it hit the Taniwha and after two whole days and two hole nights he came to the surface with a portion of that dreadful  Taniwha.

Remember how the Pohe tribe believed that the chief's beautiful daughter was eaten befor she could be saved. Ever since that day Lake Ora was and still remains to be a reddy brown colour.

This week for spelling my words are
Angrier, Busier, Chillier, Clumsier, Cosier, Crazier, Dirtier, Dustier, funnier, happier, healthier, heavier.

I was doing a spelling activity. My activity was crazy letters, witch helps me to memories my words.

Lately during writing pod 5 has been doing procedural writing. Mr B gave use some options. I chose how to learn in pod 5 this writing would be for a new student.

1 First you need to memorise all your teachers names especially Mr B ( Mr Buckland) and Miss Hackett.

2 Second know where everything is most things end with shelf. So that means the maths shelf is where you find most maths stuff.

3 Never chat while the teachers talking or there are two consequences. You could ether end up sitting next to Mr Bs kicking foot or you could get a mahi kino means bad work you could also get a mahi pai witch means good work but you wouldn't get a mahi pai for bad work.

4 Finally have fun I know you will.

Lately during maths I have been learning a quick and easy way to do times, times is another word for groups of. Times is where you work out how many groups of that makes this. The way I learnt is where you either add and then take away or you take away and then add. EG 58 groups of 6 equals,
58 plus 2 equals 60 so six 6's are 36 add a 0 and you have 360 but now you have to take away twelve  so our answer is 348.

This week my LPG is " I am learning to visualise a setting in my head and draw it." The reason we learnt this is so that when you read a book you can picture it in your mind. We drew it to make shore that we all could creat a picture in our head, the story we read was the Gruffilo. This is my story map.

For my LPG this week I chose "I can select and use a variety of plans such as a mindmaps and flowcharts to organise and generate ideas" in writing. The way I planed my writing this week was with a burger, not an actual burger-  a flowchart planing burger. We used this so we could figure out the key moments.

This is my retell of Lake Ora. The day before we did this writing we did a picture dictation, it is where you rule up 8 boxes and as the story is read to you you draw the key moments in each box. So when you go to write it you know what are the main events.


 One pitch black night when the moon was full the Pohe tribe was fast asleep when the sound of bubbles from Lake Ora woke the tribe. Everyone went to see what the noise was but all they saw was a big black object floating through the water. No one feared to go see what that beast was when a brave warrior looking for attention said “ It's probable the taniwha I will go to the shore and see,”. So the mighty warrior set off to the shore but when he got there it was gone.

After that the Chief's beautiful daughter was the only one how lived by the lake. Exactly a year later the tribe was woken again on full moon but this time they were woken by the scream of the chief's daughter, the same brave warrior ran to the lake as he watched the taniwha barge the woman into the lake. He had had enough of this taniwha he sprinted up to his Fahrenui  and grabbed  his spear and dived into the lake, for a hole two days and two nights, when he came up to the surface he look like a hundred year old man but he was not entirely successful on the end of his spare was a bit of the taniwha.

From that day on every full moon Lake Ora would turn bright red. And the memory the there was ounce a beautiful woman who was lost in the lake, people believe that the woman was eaten before she could be rescued. Now there is only around 12 people left in the Pohe tribe.

What I was learning to do is use picture dictation and retell the story of Lake Ora.
